About this calculator
Add your rooms, choose the tile size and fixing method, and get the number of tiles and boxes to buy, plus adhesive bags or cement and sand for a mortar bed.
How it's calculated
- Tiles = floor area × (1 + wastage) ÷ tile face area
- Boxes = tiles ÷ tiles per box (rounded up)
- Adhesive ≈ 45 sq ft per 20 kg bag; mortar bed 1:4 at 1″ thick
How much wastage should I allow?
7% for straight laying in normal rooms, 10–15% for diagonal laying or many small rooms.
