About this calculator
Work out how many concrete blocks you need for a wall, and the cement and sand for the joints. Choose hollow or solid blocks and add your block price for a full material cost.
How it's calculated
- Blocks per sq ft = 144 ÷ [(block length + ⅜″) × (block height + ⅜″)]
- Mortar = wall volume − block volume (hollow blocks: 60% of a solid joint)
- Cement bags = dry mortar × cement share ÷ 1.25
How many 8″ blocks per square foot?
About 1.05 blocks of 16″ × 8″ face per square foot of wall.
